Hey, I&#8217;m just sayin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sc2.sourceforge.net\/\" title=\"Star Control II -- oops, I mean The Ur-Quan Masters\">More fun than a rampaging pack of Zebranskys<\/a>!  The best game ever packed into 11 megabytes is now available as a free download for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Cinematics are broken, pretty much everything else works great.  God bless open source.<sup>[<a href=\"#14-1\">1<\/a>]<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Rummaging through the iTunes Music store is just <em>way<\/em> too much fun. Anyone remember <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emdac.demon.co.uk\/phil\/shrkindx.html\" title=\"Ah, 1990.\">Shriekback<\/a>?  I do.<\/p>\n<p>Just don&#8217;t browse iTunes while tipsy, or you might end up buying more cheesy music than is safe for human consumption.  <cite><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesonglyrics.com\/c_song_lyrics\/cuttingcrew_lyric2.html\" title=\"Cutting Crew lyrics\">Ah-WHOA!<\/a> I just died in your arms tonight!<\/cite>  Damnit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/slate.msn.com\/id\/2102352\/\" title=\"And it's all Reagan's fault, apparently\">Dynegy crook treated unfairly!<\/a> Actually, the article is really about the unfairness of minimum mandatory sentencing.  Still, it is puzzling that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usdoj.gov\/usao\/txs\/releases\/November2003\/031113-olis.htm\" title=\"Jaime Olis\">crook in question<\/a> is described as a &#8220;middle-level manager&#8221; (he was a VP) who &#8220;did not personally profit from his crime&#8221; (umm, <a href=\"http:\/\/execed.ba.ttu.edu\/Dynegy.htm\" title=\"40k?  Feh. 'If you're going to steal, steal big.'\">no<\/a>). <\/p>\n<p>You know&#8230; I like to think that Evil is nuanced. Real villains aren&#8217;t cartoon characters. A book that has the bad guys sitting around and cackling about how evil they are can be immediately discounted as hokey and unrealistic.  Right? So why can&#8217;t <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&amp;u=\/ap\/20040614\/ap_on_bi_ge\/enron_tapes_2\" title=\"Evil Enron guys chortle over cheating California grandmothers.\">real-life bad guys<\/a> live up to literary standards?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><cite>It&#8217;s not whether you win or lose, it&#8217;s how you play the game.<\/cite>  Words to live by, especially when your company softball team is coming off a season-opening 17-1 loss.<sup>[<a href=\"#14-1\">2<\/a>]<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"14-1\"><\/a><small>1. For more time-wasting pleasure, there&#8217;s a remake of the classic Avalon Hill boardgame <a href=\"http:\/\/colossus.sourceforge.net\/\">Titan<\/a>. God bless open source <em>and<\/em> Java.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"14-2\"><\/a><small>2.
