Some of this stuff has been sitting around for <em>months<\/em>.  Phew.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>While you were sitting around eating nachos and scouring the web for Return of the King spoilers,<sup>[<a href=\"#15-1\">1<\/a>]<\/sup> <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/~distler\/blog\/\" title=\"X-Phile numero uno\">Jacques Distler<\/a> has been busy exporting his 21st-century, MathML-enabled, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\/archives\/2003\/09\/03\/markup_bulle\/\" title=\"The only sensible kind, really\">bulletproof XHTML<\/a> weblog to his <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/~distler\/blog\/archives\/000260.html\" title=\"It's in Spanish, but hell, I couldn't read it anyway\">academic<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/string\/index.shtml\" title=\"The 'String Coffee Table?'  Bleh.  The 'String Quintet' would have been much funnier.\">colleagues<\/a>.  My goodness, I think someone&#8217;s going to find a real honest-to-God <em>use<\/em> for this XHTML stuff one of these days.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The fabulous <a href=\"http:\/\/brunching.com\" title=\"Best. Comedy site. Ever.\">brunching.com<\/a> is dead, but at least the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.selfmadecritic.com\" title=\"Although he's got nothing on Mr. Cranky\">Self-Made Critic<\/a> lives on.   It&#8217;s not every movie critic who has to deal with flame emails on web standards&#8230; fortunately, he&#8217;s hired a cranky Russian named Boris to handle his Inbox.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>[Reader Jonathan]: So, Boris, tell me: is the horrible scroll bar an evil Communist plot to annoy the hell out of SMC readers or what? Are our capitalist browser scroll bars not good enough for you people over at selfmadecritic.com, to make you implement your own mouse-over-driven scroll bar? RSS feed for &#8220;The Dailies&#8221;, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\/rss\/2.0\/dailies\/\" title=\"Clicking on this link probably won't be too informative\">http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\/rss\/2.0\/dailies\/<\/a>.  Sweet.  Between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siliconvalley.com\/mld\/siliconvalley\/business\/columnists\/gmsv\/\" title=\"Will they just *get* an RSS *feed* already?\">Siliconvalley.com<\/a>, Dave&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\/rss\/2.0\/dailies\/\" title=\"It has comments, too!\">The Dailies<\/a>&#8221; and Mark&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/diveintomark.org\/xml\/blink.xml\" title=\"Was I the only one who liked them when they were on the background?\">b-links<\/a>, I&#8217;ve got all the tech\/geek info a growing boy needs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Having problems with your cable service? Fuzzy TV signal?  Cable modem losing sync?  Well, don&#8217;t just stand there cursing your own rotten luck&#8230; you might actually be the victim of a conspiracy.  A crude, bumbling, beer-soaked conspiracy, <a href=\"http:\/\/bumppo.net\/archives\/2003\/07\/index.html#000289\" title=\"Huzzah for the cable lady!\">but a conspiracy nonetheless<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Take that, nitwit neighbor fratboys. The lesson, I think, is that you&#8217;re less likely to be caught hijacking cable service using high-quality parts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Let&#8217;s not forget <a href=\"http:\/\/www.silencethemusical.com\/\" title=\"An idea whose time has come\">Silence of the Lambs, The Musical<\/a>!   If you can&#8217;t empathize with poor, lonely Buffalo Bill as he sings about how hard it is to find that special someone (&#8220;I want a girl who will fit me to a T \/ a woman who&#8217;ll look good on meee&#8230;&#8221;), then I say you&#8217;ve got a heart of stone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Finally, because it&#8217;s there: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.curiouser.co.uk\/runciblespoonsociety\/apply.htm\" title=\"I'm not a member, but at least I'm not an Arsenal fan\">The Runcible Spoon Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"15-1\"><\/a><small>1.
